14-Day Tanzania Itinerary
Two weeks is the perfect amount of time to experience Tanzania. You’ll get to see four of Eastern Africa’s best national parks as well as some relaxation time in dreamy Zanzibar. Here’s a sample itinerary for a 14-day trip with Congema Safaris. This is exactly what I did and I can’t recommend it enough. As always, email me if you want some more feedback.
CTS – 14 DAYS TANZANIA WILDLIFE SAFARI & BEACH
The best way to see Tanzania and explore the turquoise beaches of Zanzibar.
Day 1: Arrival JRO / Arusha: 55km / 01 hour
Picked up at the airport and continue to your hotel for overnight on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
Day 2: Arusha National Park: 60km / 01 hour
After breakfast drive to Arusha National Park for morning 2 hours walking safari on the base of Mount Meru accompanied by an armed ranger. This park is located on the slopes of second highest mountain in Tanzania, mount Meru. Apart from the amazing view of this mountain from the park, it is also the best place to view the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. This park has giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, bushbucks, waterbucks, blue monkeys, the rare black and white colobus monkey and many more. In the late afternoon return to Arusha for dinner and overnight at your hotel on Full Board Basis.
Day 3: Arusha / Lake Manyara: 130km / 03 hours
After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park with picnic lunch boxes. This park has the largest concentration of baboons in North Tanzania, tree climbing lions, Hippos and other game can easily be spotted here. It is also the best place to see aquatic bird like flamingos and other species birds. In the late afternoon continue to your lodge / Camp for dinner and overnight on Full Board Basis.
Day 4: Arusha / Serengeti NP: 336km / 7 hours
After breakfast drive to your lodge / Camp for lunch. In the afternoon depart for game drive in Serengeti National Park, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Serengeti is the park with the largest concentration of big mammals in the world. Here you will expect to see a bigger number of animals including the Big Cats (lions, leopards, cheetahs, etc.). Meals and overnight your lodge / Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 5: Serengeti NP: Full day of Game drive
Morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park with early departures, trying to look for active cats/hunting predators. All meals and overnight at your lodge / Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 6: Serengeti NP /Ngorongoro: 145KM / 04hrs
After breakfast depart for morning game drive in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch, then continue to your lodge / Camp for dinner and overnight. On the way you will stop for a tour in a traditional Maasai village to learn Maasai culture and take some picture with this wonderful Tanzanian tribe.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Conservation Authority Area: Full Day Crater Tour
After breakfast descend into the Crater floor for a full day of game drive with picnic lunch. This is the best place to see the endangered black rhino (less than 5040 black rhinos are left in the wild today).The Crater has also many other animals like Lions, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, gazelles, hyenas and many more. In the late afternoon return to your lodge / Camp for dinner and overnight on Full Board Basis.
Day 8: Ngorongoro / Arusha / Zanzibar: 190 km / 4 hours
After breakfast drive back to Arusha for lunch. After lunch continue to Arusha Airport and connect a flight to Zanzibar departing in the midafternoon hours. Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be transferred to in Stone town for overnight on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
Day 9: Zanzibar Stone town: Stone Town Tour
Whole day spent exploring the historical Zanzibar Stone town. All meals and overnight will be at your Stone Town Hotel on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
Day 10: Zanzibar Stone Town: Jozani Forest Tour
Day spent exploring the Spice farms and the Jozani forest where the rare red colobus monkeys are seen. Late you will be transferred to East Coast of Zanzibar to Kiwengwa where you will spend the rest of the days with beach and sun at your beach hotel on Half Board Basis.
Day 11, 12 and 13: Zanzibar Stone Town / Kiwengwa
Spend three full days at leisure in the beautiful Zanzibar beach. There are options of doing water activities that are offered by the hotel at an extra cost depending on your choice or you can just relax at the bar. Overnight at your beach hotel on Half Board Basis.
Day 14: Departure
Depending on your international flight details, you will be transferred to Zanzibar airport for connection onto your international flight out.
